The SIlk Road Ensemble at globalFEST 2012

The Silk Road Ensemble will perform at globalFEST, an annual one night indoor world music festival that showcases 12 artists or groups from around the world.

The Ensemble s performance will take place at 9 p.m. in Webster Hall in New York City. globalFEST takes place during the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP)s annual conference, but the performances are also open to the public.

Harvard University Residency with SRE

The Silk Road Ensemble will meet with composers in an intensive workshop to develop four new pieces of music. The Silk Road Project has commissioned new works from David Bruce, Vijay Iyer, Glenn Kotche, and Kojiro Umezaki.

Harvard University undergraduate and graduate students from many disciplines will have opportunities to observe and interact with Ensemble members and develop their own engagement projects.

These events are part of the Silk Road Projects affiliation with Harvard, where the Project is acting as a working laboratory to explore intersections between the arts and academics.

Galician Connection Xornadas na Cidade da Cultura

Un programa formativo a cargo de seis mestres da World Music, charlas e debates e un concerto de clausura no Museo de Galicia. Esta é a oferta de Galician Connection, tres xornadas dedicadas ás músicas do mundo coordinadas pola artista Cristina Pato e coa participación especial do recoñecido músico cubano Paquito D Rivera.

Compartindo experiencias ao longo destas tres xornadas estará un dos máximos expoñentes da cultura tradicional China e posuidor de varios Grammys, Wu Tong; o mestre de táboa india Sandeep Das; unha das figuras máis influíntes dentro do tango jazz, o arxentino Emilio Solla; ademais do músico, arranxista e compositor de jazz cubano Paquito D Rivera. Pola súa banda, un dos fundadores de Berrogüeto, Anxo Pintos, e a que foi a súa voz durante máis dunha década, Guadi Galego, serán os encargados de representar a tradición galega.
