Cristina is on Tour with her Galician Trio, with Roberto Comesaña on accordion and Miguel Cabana on percussion. On July 20th the Trio invited Galician Bagpipe Master Suso Vaamonde and the Municipal School of Bagpipers of Outes, Coruña to join them in a beautiful evening of traditional and non traditional music. Then, as every year for the last 20 years, Cristina celebrated the National Day of Galicia on July 25th performing live in the TV Special Broadcast of the Día de Santiago, where she also joined with singer Rosa Cedrón for a beautiful rendition of the song Negro Caravel, from their joined project Soas‘s album Muller.
Next stop for the Trio, Ribeira on August 2nd.
And, in what constitutes yet another recognition for her career, NPR has chosen Cristina’s work for their list of 200 women whose major musical contributions came after Jan. 1, 2000, and have shifted attitudes, defied categories and pushed sound in new directions since then. We couldn’t be more excited about this!
