YOUNG PEOPLE’S CONCERT with the New York Philharmonic – NY City
February 21, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join the Silk Road Ensemble and New York Philharmonic for a performance developed especially for young people and families. The program celebrates the influences and instruments from different cultures through a variety of works: Mozart’s Overture to the Abduction from the Seraglio, Cristina Pato and Wu Tong’s Fanfare for Gaita, Suona, and Brass; and selections from Borodin’s Prince Igor, the Silk Road Suite, and Osvaldo Golijov’s Rose of the Winds.
Each season, the New York Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concerts take a different approach to explore fundamental musical concepts and the cultural history of classical music. Over the four-concert series, children discover pieces from the entire repertory down to the newest works, while experiencing the inner workings of a major orchestra in a captivating, multimedia format.
