From August 4st to 11th, Cristina joins the Silkroad at the Chautauqua Institution for a week of performances, lectures and workshops led and influenced by the work of Silkroad. The Ensemble opens the week exploring the notions of home through distinct traditions and personal stories, and continues its Residency with master classes and performances. You can see in the pictures above Cristina with Professor Steve Seidel lecturing for a class of more than 4000 students.
On August 9th, Cristina joins the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra as a member of the Silkroad Ensemble for the US premiere of Octavio Vázquez‘s Widows of the Living and of the Dead, the piece commissioned by Cristina Pato for her groundbreaking Gaita and Orchestra Commissioning Project, with support from New Music USA, and that was world premiered in Galicia two years ago, in June 2016.
The week culminates friday August 11th with a performance by the Silkroad Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma.
